Open boxes of varying shapes and sizes safely and efficiently, with high-speed operation.

This high-speed variation of the Universal Box Cutter, or HS-UBC, automates the task of opening boxes and is capable of processing up to 16 boxes per minute through its twin lane configuration.

It uses the latest vision technology to automatically detect carton shape and size, and create real-time 3D images to determine the appropriate cut profile for each carton. It can open various carton sizes on the fly, without the need for operator intervention, can cut straps and bands, and is even capable of processing damaged boxes.

Applications

  • Operations where product is required to be removed from corrugated cardboard boxes
  • Lines handling multiple box sizes and/or box formats
  • Non-sanitary lines
  • Line speeds of up to 16 boxes per minute

Benefits

  • Operator input not required for box size and shape changes
  • Reduces labour requirements – allows staff to be redeployed to higher value work
  • Eliminates manual handling, knives and the associated risk of injury

This machine can be provided as part of a Universal De-boxer system, to include product unloading. A De-palletising system can also be added, to provide a completely automated solution to the front-end of a secondary processing, repackaging or e-commerce fulfilment line.

For sanitary operations, see our Universal De-boxer.

Previously known as the H&C Universal Box Cutter, this was originally developed by Haden & Custance (H&C), which is now part of MHM Automation.
