Automation Engineer

The Role:

This position involves designing and programming the industrial control and automation systems associated with Chilling and Freezing projects. Working autonomously or in a team, you will manage automation projects and ensure their success by designing and troubleshooting electrical issues, interpreting electrical drawings, and developing software solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring that projects meet customer’s requirements in an efficient manner.

About You:

  • Be tertiary qualified in a relevant subject or Electrical Trade qualified
  • Have experience in PLC programming
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and automation systems
  • Have a good eye for details and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage time effectively
  • Be able to work autonomously or part of a team
  • Willing to travel for up to 4 weeks at a time

Mechanical Design Engineer
Brisbane, Australia  |   Permanent

The Role:

Working out of our Brisbane office, you will contribute to the design, development, and commercialisation of MHM’s Chilling and Freezing products, creating detailed designs of machines/systems and working with inhouse robotics, machine vision and automation professionals. In this role you will take the design lead on specific projects, and ensure design is undertaken within project budgets and timeline, whilst progressively developing and implementing improved systems and processes in line with the Engineering team. You will also work closely with the wider Automation, Projects, and Mechanical teams to ensure operating and cost efficiencies are obtained, quality and safety standards are achieved, and deadlines are met.

About You:

  • Previous experience in a Mechanical Design role
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • Extensive experience with Inventor Professional and Vault Basic is required
  • Experience with Auto CAD is preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience in creating manufacturing drawings – GD&T, Welding requirements, appropriate dimensioning for manufacturability
  • Materials handling/conveying or food processing experience is advantageous
  • Knowledge of structural engineering & manufacturing practices is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Qualities of resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

Project Engineer
Brisbane, Australia  |   Permanent

Based out of our Brisbane office, you will be working on the MHM Chilling & Freezing range of carton tunnel and plate freezer products. This role truly has it all, you will be reviewing engineering designs, ensuring compliance with engineering and contract requirements, overseeing the manufacture and installation of our products and services, using your relationship skills to liaise with customers and our internal teams in Mechanical Design and Automation to ensure that projects are fit for purpose via the design, procurement, manufacturing, and commissioning processes. You will travel to site when required to ensure manufacturing and installation work is progressing as planned.

In order to be successful in this role, you will need to be switched on at every point, technically minded, with awesome attention to detail and a real problem solver and team player.

About You:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in Project Engineering, preferably in the food/mechanical industry
  • Basic proficiency with Inventor, Vault Basic and AutoCAD is advantageous
  • Proven track record of working with sub-contractors and equipment suppliers
  • Excellent relationship and communication skills
  • Have strong financial acumen
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to challenge and push boundaries in the interest of efficiency
  • Be a pragmatic problem solver focused on finding solutions

Service Engineer
Brisbane, Australia  |   Permanent

The Opportunity:

Based out of our Brisbane office, you will use your strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customer representatives, in this customer facing role. The Service Engineer will travel throughout Australia to perform scheduled maintenance, respond to emergency breakdowns, and ensure the optimal functioning of our equipment at client sites. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of this business area by identifying new service opportunities and coordinating with the Servicing and Sales teams. Ensuring the safety of our customers, their staff, and our team members is of paramount importance, and you will be expected to adopt best practices in all aspects of your work.

About You:

  • Trade Certificate in Fitting, Mechanical Technician
  • Experience in Chilling and Freezing and/or food processing equipment would be advantageous
  • Ability to systematically diagnose faults and provide well thought out solutions
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Be able to develop and maintain relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
  • Be a pragmatic problem solver focused on finding solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
