The Role:
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our team, based out of our Hastings office. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing and programming industrial control and automation systems for Material Handling projects.
Working independently or as part of a team, you'll take ownership of automation projects from start to finish - including software development, troubleshooting electrical systems, and interpreting technical drawings. Your focus will be on delivering efficient, high-quality solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
This is a hands-on role where your problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and project management capabilities will directly contribute to the success of each project.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Group CFO in Christchurch, you’ll lead IT service delivery and infrastructure for around 400 users across multiple sites. Working with Fortifi’s global IT team, external providers and local stakeholders, you’ll help transition from a mixed in‑house/outsourced model to a shared global service, redesigning processes and lifting service levels.
This is a “player‑coach” role: no direct reports initially, but strong influence and future leadership opportunities. You’ll be the local go‑to for IT operations, coordinating offshore helpdesk and specialist partners in the US and India
What You’ll Do
About You
You’re an experienced IT operations professional who blends hands‑on technical expertise with stakeholder management and process improvement. Confident as the local “face of IT,” you collaborate easily with global peers and leadership.
You’ll bring:
Based out of our Hastings office, you will use your strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customer representatives, in this customer facing role. The Service Technician will predominantly travel throughout New Zealand & Australia to perform scheduled maintenance, respond to emergency breakdowns, and ensure the optimal functioning of our equipment at client sites. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of this business area by identifying new service opportunities and coordinating with the Servicing and Sales teams. Ensuring the safety of our customers, their staff, and our team members is of paramount importance, and you will be expected to adopt best practices in all aspects of your work.
