Automation Engineer

The Role:
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our team, based out of our Hastings office. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing and programming industrial control and automation systems for Material Handling projects.
Working independently or as part of a team, you'll take ownership of automation projects from start to finish - including software development, troubleshooting electrical systems, and interpreting technical drawings. Your focus will be on delivering efficient, high-quality solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
This is a hands-on role where your problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and project management capabilities will directly contribute to the success of each project.
About You:
- Be tertiary qualified in a relevant subject or Electrical Trade qualified
- Have experience in PLC programming
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical and automation systems
- Have a good eye for details and high level of accuracy
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage time effectively
- Be able to work autonomously or part of a team

Group IT Operations Manager
Christchurch

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Group CFO in Christchurch, you’ll lead IT service delivery and infrastructure for around 400 users across multiple sites. Working with Fortifi’s global IT team, external providers and local stakeholders, you’ll help transition from a mixed in‑house/outsourced model to a shared global service, redesigning processes and lifting service levels.
This is a “player‑coach” role: no direct reports initially, but strong influence and future leadership opportunities. You’ll be the local go‑to for IT operations, coordinating offshore helpdesk and specialist partners in the US and India
What You’ll Do
- Own IT service delivery: monitor SLAs, manage ticketing, handle escalations and ensure great user support.
- Manage core infrastructure: devices, servers, networking, Active Directory, collaboration tools and cloud services.
- Oversee onboarding/offboarding, access management and hardware provisioning.
- Align infrastructure and applications with business priorities, working closely with finance and operations.
- Coordinate security operations with Fortifi and external SOC/SEIM providers.
- Manage vendor relationships and support IT due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
- Report regularly on IT performance, risks and improvement initiatives.
About You
You’re an experienced IT operations professional who blends hands‑on technical expertise with stakeholder management and process improvement. Confident as the local “face of IT,” you collaborate easily with global peers and leadership.
You’ll bring:
- 7+ years in IT operations/support across multi‑site environments.
- Strong technical breadth across Microsoft 365, Windows Server, networking and enterprise platforms.
- Experience with ITIL processes and vendor SLA management.
- A focus on security, resilience and business continuity.
- Clear communication skills to translate technical issues into business language.
- Bonus: experience in mergers/acquisitions, global groups or manufacturing/industrial sectors.
Service Technician
Hastings

Based out of our Hastings office, you will use your strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customer representatives, in this customer facing role. The Service Technician will predominantly travel throughout New Zealand & Australia to perform scheduled maintenance, respond to emergency breakdowns, and ensure the optimal functioning of our equipment at client sites. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of this business area by identifying new service opportunities and coordinating with the Servicing and Sales teams. Ensuring the safety of our customers, their staff, and our team members is of paramount importance, and you will be expected to adopt best practices in all aspects of your work.
About You:
- Trade Certificate in Fitting, Mechanical Technician
- Experience in Automation and/or food processing equipment would be advantageous
- Ability to systematically diagnose faults and provide well thought out solutions
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Be able to develop and maintain relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
- Be a pragmatic problem solver focused on finding solutions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Hold a current Passport allowing for International Travel when required.
