Automation Engineer - Brisbane

The Role:

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Automation Engineer to join our team, based out of our Brisbane office. In this role, you’ll be responsible for designing and programming industrial control and automation systems for Material Handling projects.

Working independently or as part of a team, you'll take ownership of automation projects from start to finish - including software development, troubleshooting electrical systems, and interpreting technical drawings. Your focus will be on delivering efficient, high-quality solutions that meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.

This is a hands-on role where your problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and project management capabilities will directly contribute to the success of each project.

About You:

  • Be tertiary qualified in a relevant subject or Electrical Trade qualified
  • Have experience in PLC programming
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and automation systems
  • Have a good eye for details and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise, and manage time effectively
  • Be able to work autonomously or part of a team

Head of Aftermarket Services - Brisbane

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a dynamic leader to drive the global Aftersales portfolio - Parts, Service, and Asset Management - within our Materials Handling Business Unit. This role is central to strengthening customer relationships, improving equipment performance, and growing recurring revenue.

As a key member of the BU leadership team, you’ll shape and deliver a customer‑centric aftermarket strategy, build scalable service systems, and ensure world‑class service quality. You’ll also create strong feedback loops across Sales, Engineering, Project Delivery, and Operations to continuously enhance our OEM offering.

About You:

  • Significant leadership experience in aftersales, service, or field operations within materials handling, automation, capital equipment, or similar industrial sectors.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement aftersales strategies that deliver growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong understanding of service delivery processes, contract management, and lifecycle asset performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical teams across multiple locations, ideally with an international footprint.
  • Experience with CRM, field service management tools, and data-driven service reporting.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance commercial priorities and operational realities.
  • Customer-focused leader who can inspire high performance and strong team engagement.

Service Technician - Brisbane or Auckland
Brisbane, Australia  |   Permanent

Based out of our Brisbane or Auckland office, you will use your strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customer representatives, in this customer facing role. The Service Technician will predominantly travel throughout New Zealand & Australia to perform scheduled maintenance, respond to emergency breakdowns, and ensure the optimal functioning of our equipment at client sites. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the expansion of this business area by identifying new service opportunities and coordinating with the Servicing and Sales teams. Ensuring the safety of our customers, their staff, and our team members is of paramount importance, and you will be expected to adopt best practices in all aspects of your work.

About You:

  • Trade Certificate in Fitting, Mechanical Technician
  • Experience in Automation and/or food processing equipment would be advantageous
  • Ability to systematically diagnose faults and provide well thought out solutions
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Be able to develop and maintain relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
  • Be a pragmatic problem solver focused on finding solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Hold a current Passport allowing for International Travel when required.

Service Technician - Kansas City

The Service Technician is responsible for providing hands-on field service support for MHM Automation equipment in customer facilities. This role focuses on installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment and automation systems, while delivering a high standard of customer service. The position operates primarily in the field and supports customers across assigned territories.

Scope of Role (Field Service)

  • Perform on-site installation, start-up, and commissioning of automation and materials-handling equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues in the field.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment reliability and performance.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers on operation, safety, and basic maintenance.
  • Accurately document service activities, time worked, parts used, and job status in company systems.
  • Travel extensively to customer sites, including overnight travel as required.
  • Represent MHM Automation and Bettcher professionally while working at customer facilities.
  • Comply with all safety standards, customer site requirements, and company policies.
  • Collaborate closely with the After Sales, Engineering, and HR teams to support customer satisfaction and employee compliance.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping, expense reporting, and documentation.
  • Uphold company values, ethical standards, and professional conduct expectations.

Work Environment

  • Field-based role involving frequent travel to customer facilities.
  • Work may include weekends, extended hours, and overnight travel depending on customer needs and service schedules.
