The carriage was a new model that better suited the lower mill production and smaller log requirements without compromising at all on carriage performance. The new carriage and system was installed over the Christmas 2010 period. It started up on time and very quickly lifted the sawmills recovery and despite the mill having only two machine centers (the second being a 1 man bench) they consistently cut in excess of 100m3 sawn /single daily shift.
The installation provided us with challenges including unexpected removal of the old rail foundations. Overall the project was very successful and has achieved all the clients targets.
