The Claymark Sawmill at Katikati in the Bay of Plenty processes high value pruned pinus radiata logs into clear wood components for export. Claymark are leaders in the timber industry by keeping up with technology and always looking for ways to streamline their production costs.
The challenge was to completely automate the log debarking line.
Logs were loaded by the log loader on the log infeed deck, singulated, then fed through a Valon Kone log debarker, fed down the outfeed and automatically discharged at three separate destinations. After the logs being loaded at the infeed they were not handled until they arrived at the primary breakdown bandmill.
